High-throughput imaging measurements of thermoelectric figure of merit

We demonstrate a method for the simultaneous determination of thermoelectric figure merit multiple martials by means lock-in thermography (LIT) technique. This is based on thermal analyses transient temperature distribution induced Peltier effect and Joule heating, which enables high-throughput estimation diffusivity, conductivity, volumetric heat capacity, Seebeck or coefficient materials. The LIT-based approach has high reproducibility reliability because it offers sensitive noncontact measurements does not require installation an external heater. By performing same with applying magnetic field, field and/or magnetization dependences conductivity can be determined simultaneously. validity this using several ferromagnetic metals (Ni, Ni95Pt5, Fe) nonmagnetic metal (Ti). proposed will useful materials research in thermoelectrics spin caloritronics investigation magneto-thermal magneto-thermoelectric transport properties.

The mechanism of the reduction of the lattice thermal conductivity in cubic CrN is similar to the resonant bonding in IV-VI compounds.
